Quiet Signals Uses a Terracotta Curve on a Bedroom Wall

A curve can give a bedroom wall direction without turning the picture into a scene. Quiet Signals 03 begins with a broad terracotta ribbon, a softer sage area and a dark olive corner. There is enough resemblance to a bend in a river for that thought to occur, but the work leaves the interpretation open. It is an abstraction built from color and placement, not a map with the labels removed. The pale area around the larger forms is doing as much compositional work as the curve itself.

Quiet Signals Gives a Stair Landing a Wide Open Desert Horizon

A stair landing is usually a place you pass through, which is precisely why one clear image can have a strong effect there. You meet it repeatedly, from different heights and at different distances. Quiet Signals 02 gives that brief encounter a desert horizon: layered warm ground, a dark distant ridge and a large pale sky. The landscape is invented. Its job is to open a visual distance on a wall where there is no actual window, without requiring the landing to become another furnished room.

Quiet Signals Gives a Reading Corner One Clear Point of Focus

A restrained room still needs decisions. Remove enough objects and every remaining edge, color and gap becomes more conspicuous. Quiet Signals 01 is built for that condition: a circle divided between forest green and ochre, a dark horizontal bar, and a small red dot placed low and to the right. There is very little to describe, which makes the arrangement between those parts the whole point. The dot is small, but it is hardly shy.
